Aligning people, process, and technology

1The challenge

Our client was evolving tools and processes while simultaneously evolving roles and responsibilities. All three things needed to go hand in hand, in an agile model, so that at the end of the day the tools supported the team and the process supported business goals.

2What we did

We started by listening. We sat down with the people doing the work to understand what was in the way and how process and tools could help. We pulled it all together, looked for themes and patterns, and prioritized solutions. We worked with the team to figure out how the people, process, and tools needed to fit together to support them and support business goals.

3The result

The solutions we co-created reduce the admin burden, clarify ownership and roles, and provide clearer data to base decisions on. The new tools were built with both the daily users and leadership team in mind, so they do the heavy lifting and ensure the right data is available at the right time.

Building a new muscle

1The challenge

A firm with several offices wanted to create new standards across the company, focused on the way work was delivered. That meant creating new processes from scratch, determining what got prioritized, and embedding the new practices into the team’s culture so it would stick.

2What we did

First, we listened to understand what was working and what was getting in the way. Then we built the process with those needs in mind, including a clear way to decide what gets done first, and standards to roll out projects the same way every time. We helped the team test the process with live work and worked through any issues that came up in real time.

3The result

The new process and supporting tools helped standardize the way the firm manages work while clarifying ownership and communicating project results firm-wide. Supporting tools like a prioritization framework and yearly communication plan helped standardize how projects are chosen and when updates are provided at each level of leadership.
